ULTRA MOBILE is on the lookout for a skilled Design Systems Manager to join our Marketing Team. This role reports directly to the Senior Creative Director of Experience Design and operates in a hybrid capacity.

This hybrid position offers the flexibility of both remote and on-site work. Ideal candidates should live within commuting distance of our Costa Mesa, CA headquarters and be available to work on-site at least once a week or as required.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Design Systems Manager, you will oversee the strategic development and upkeep of our design systems across multiple platforms and brands. You will play a crucial role in refining design workflows, tools, and processes to boost team efficiency and ensure consistent design standards.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Collaborating with the Senior Creative Director, Experience Design, to build and expand a design system team, with potential growth to include UI motion designers and creative technologists.
• Leading the strategic evolution of our design systems to maintain visual and functional consistency across digital platforms.
• Enhancing team productivity by optimizing design workflows, tools, and processes.
• Working with Engineering teams to develop scalable, technically viable design solutions.
• Partnering with UX and UI Designers, Developers, and Project Managers to integrate design system components that align with business goals and project requirements.
• Promoting the adoption of the design system across various teams and departments, ensuring alignment with established guidelines.
• Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for design system components, usage guidelines, and best practices.
• Regularly reviewing and auditing the design system to ensure it remains up-to-date and effective.
• Communicating design system updates and initiatives to stakeholders and team members through presentations and reports.
• Keeping abreast of industry trends, emerging tools, and best practices to continuously improve our design systems.
• Leading workshops and training sessions to support team members in effectively using our design systems.

Work hours: 8:30 am to 5:30 pm Pacific Standard Time.

WHAT YOU BRING

• 6+ years of experience in UI/UX Design for web and mobile applications.
• Proven experience in developing and managing design systems for large-scale brands.
• Strong understanding of design principles, including typography, color theory, layout, and iconography.
• High proficiency in design tools and design system documentation, such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and Zeroheight.
• Excellent skills in managing stakeholder expectations, including up-to-date roadmaps and regular design system release updates.
• Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering.
• Exceptional communication skills to effectively present ideas and updates to stakeholders.
• Strong time management skills, capable of handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of design system initiatives.
• A strong portfolio showcasing design systems and their application in digital products.
• Experience designing for native iOS and Android apps.
• Excellent understanding of web standards, HTML/CSS, and basic knowledge of JavaScript.
• Familiarity with e-commerce design best practices and ADA compliance for inclusive design.

Actual compensation depends on various factors, including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location.
