As an essential partner to Product and Engineering, the Coinbase Design team plays a vital role in realizing the company's vision. We tackle challenging user experience problems to create intuitive and enjoyable products from complex technical challenges. You'll be instrumental in designing our flagship products for the largest crypto user base and shaping user experiences for entirely new features that the ecosystem has yet to see.

You will lead the design team for the Coinbase Developer Platform. Our vision is to be the premier on-chain developer platform, enabling millions of developers to easily and securely build blockchain applications and deliver them to billions of users. Our customers range from financial institutions entering the crypto space for the first time to on-chain native startups developing the next generation of world-changing apps. Whether it's wallets, blockspace, data infrastructure, or testing resources, we provide it all, supported by the same infrastructure that powers Coinbase. We’re a small, agile team that moves with the speed of a startup.

What You’ll Be Doing (Job Duties):

• Lead and manage a team of 3-5 Product Designers to create exceptional developer experiences.
• Proactively identify and address blockers, opportunities, and improvements within your team's product area.
• Engage in decision-making throughout all phases of your product area's projects, including planning, strategy, execution, QA, analysis, and retrospectives.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to drive and shape the product vision and strategy.
• Oversee the allocation of resources for your team for the current and upcoming quarters.
• Mentor and support the growth of other designers.
• Design and refine the working processes for your team.
• Organize and document multiple projects and the team's work in writing.

What We Look For In You (Job Requirements):

• 3+ years of professional experience leading a design team.
• Experience designing for developers, particularly with developer tools.
• Experience recruiting and managing designers focused on developer audiences.
• Strong mentorship and technical skills.
• Proven ability to set creative direction for consumer-facing products on web and mobile.
• Excellence in UX thinking, visual design, and written communication.
• Experience working collaboratively with designers, engineers, user researchers, and product teams.
• Proficiency in Figma and prototyping tools.
• Experience conducting user research studies.
• A low-ego, collaborative, and open-minded attitude.
• A passion for simplifying complexity and creating order from uncertainty.
• A strong interest in crypto.

Nice to Haves:

• Familiarity with the web3 ecosystem.
• A technical degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
• Previous programming experience.
