Product Engineering at Leaseweb

We have around 90 engineers working in small scrum teams, each responsible for specific products or architectural components. Our teams operate on a remote-first model, gathering in person at our Amsterdam HQ twice a year.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a seasoned developer with a strong DevOps mindset and skillset. You’ll contribute to and collaborate with the Apache CloudStack project. Given that we provide hosting infrastructure, deep expertise in Linux and Networking is crucial. You’ll lead in managing and scaling our CloudStack deployments, from debugging software issues and replicating customer problems to designing and implementing sustainable solutions, enabling Leaseweb to deliver scalable Public Cloud services.

You'll join a team of DevOps engineers with diverse skills and a passion for tackling the challenges of building and operating Leaseweb’s Public Cloud. Our goal is to create reliable platforms and interfaces with trustworthy endpoints, running a standardized stack that is easily maintained and fully autonomous for users via our API and Customer Portal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborating closely with the Apache CloudStack community on the project.
  • Developing and supporting the Apache CloudStack project.
  • Maintaining Leaseweb’s CloudStack deployments, both operationally and through software improvements.
  • Resolving customer issues with CloudStack by fixing bugs and adding new features.
  • Participating in the on-call rotation schedule.

Requirements

  • In-depth understanding of the Apache CloudStack open-source project.
  • Extensive experience with Java development in a cloud hosting environment.
  • Proficiency in Python for automation and testing.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems, preferably Ubuntu, and experience with Shell/Bash is a plus.
  • Excellent understanding of virtualization technologies like KVM, QEMU, and libvirt.
  • Experience with Networking and Storage automation is highly advantageous.
  • A team player with strong planning, logical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Experience with continuous integration tools like Jenkins and configuration management systems like Chef is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Git, Grafana, Prometheus, Kubernetes, and Docker is beneficial.

Salary and Compensation

While no specific salary is provided, we estimate compensation based on similar roles related to Python, Docker, Travel, DevOps, Java, Cloud, API, and Engineering jobs to be in the range of $55,000 — $100,000/year.
