We're seeking a seasoned Staff-level Backend Engineer with extensive Python coding experience to join our software engineering team. In this role, you'll collaborate with a talented and cohesive group to advance our instant-quote product and the underlying technology platform. Your contributions will be vital to the Xometry platform, and everything you do will make a significant impact. This is a 1-year contract position.

Responsibilities:

• Design, code, test, and release software
• Work with HTML, Typescript/Javascript/React, Python, and Rust for reading, writing, and reviewing code
• Collaborate closely with fellow engineers and product managers as part of an autonomous, cross-functional team
• Take operational responsibility for your team’s services, including deploying them in an AWS and Kubernetes environment and participating in an on-call rotation
• Engage in an environment that promotes your personal growth

Qualifications:

• Required: 10+ years of experience in a dynamic, technical problem-solving role as a software developer
• Required: Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively convey ideas to a diverse audience
• Required: Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals
• Required: Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and DOM web programming
• Required: Experience with at least two of the following: Python, Rust, and React
• Desired: Familiarity with build and testing tools like Git/Github actions, GitLab
• Required: Expertise in software engineering principles related to security, scalability, asynchronous programming, and transactions
• Desired: Knowledge of service-oriented architecture principles and the ability to lead the development and implementation of a service strategy
• Desired: Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, including understanding of normalization/denormalization, constraints, transactions, replication, and sharding
• Required: Attention to detail, strong work ethic, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and excellent communication skills
