About the Team

The Product Design department is a distributed team responsible for shaping the design and user experience of the Crunchyroll video streaming service. Our work includes the new Crunchyroll website, mobile apps, and TV platforms. Our mission is to create a delightful and engaging experience for anime and manga enthusiasts worldwide.

We work closely with business, product, and engineering teams across the company, identifying key challenges and ensuring our solutions align with both business objectives and user needs.

About the Role

As a Senior Product Designer at Crunchyroll, you’ll be tasked with designing and enhancing the user experience of the Crunchyroll service. Collaborating with a team of designers, user researchers, product managers, and engineers, you'll iterate on the user experience, adding new features and refining existing ones. Your designs should reflect a strong grasp of design best practices, industry trends, and a deep empathy for our users. You'll tackle complex problems, using your design expertise to create solutions that are both elegant and functional. While it’s ideal for this role to be based in one of our offices, we are open to fully remote candidates. You will report to the Director of Product Design.

About You

• Bachelor's degree in design or a related field
• Portfolio demonstrating your design work and process
• 6+ years of professional design experience
• Strong user-centered design approach
• Experience in an Agile development environment
• Proficiency in designing responsive websites, mobile apps, and/or TV platforms
• Expertise with design tools like Sketch, Figma, and Adobe Creative Suite
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills
• Ability to effectively present design work
• Experience with design systems and best practices

Pluses

• Experience creating design prototypes
• Familiarity with software development or front-end coding
• Knowledge of the online video streaming industry
• Interest in anime, pop culture, gaming, tech, and related areas

A Day in the Life

• Continuously develop a deep empathy for our users. Work with the user research team to gather insights and apply them to new concepts and ongoing designs, ensuring decisions are based on a clear understanding of user needs.
• Collaborate with product management, marketing, and business teams to drive projects from concept to production, ensuring alignment between user and business goals.
• Lead the design of multiple features from inception to production. Manage the review process within the design department and with partner teams to ensure effective solutions that meet both user and business needs. Provide constructive feedback to fellow designers.
• Work with designers across teams to ensure scalable design solutions and a seamless user experience across all platforms.
• Review and offer feedback on in-progress design work.
• Collaborate closely with engineering to ensure designs are implemented and launched effectively.
• Participate in scrum activities, working with your Lead and program management to prioritize, estimate, and report on work.
• Manage your time effectively to focus on the right tasks and meet deadlines.
