The Senior Product Designer for Robotics Tools plays a pivotal role in helping Cruise achieve its mission. This position primarily focuses on developing tools and workflows for developers, B2B operations, and interconnected toolchains. The role requires envisioning solutions in various forms, from process recommendations to designs and prototypes. The ideal candidate will deeply understand the business and technology behind an autonomous ride-hailing company, work to improve operational efficiencies, reduce platform costs, enhance quality, and accelerate development timelines across multiple tech roles, including Machine Learning Engineers (MLEs).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and address business needs, usability gaps, and UX opportunities across a wide range of tools and stakeholders, including product teams, front-end engineers, systems engineers, operations leads, legal teams, and more.
  • Collaborate with UX managers and cross-functional stakeholders to create and execute quarterly plans, ensuring accountability for UX impact.
  • Oversee the entire design process from concept to execution, including brainstorming, prototyping, user testing, launch, and landing.
  • Deliver impactful solutions for Cruise, ranging from facilitating design sprints and developing service blueprints to creating traditional interface designs and prototypes.
  • Partner with research teams to ensure product usability.
  • Engage with diverse stakeholder groups, present work, gather feedback, and refine designs as needed.
  • Ensure timely delivery by planning design work in alignment with engineering schedules.

Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise in product design, UX/UI design, or a related field, demonstrated through a portfolio showcasing projects that have significantly improved business operations, reduced costs, or enhanced product quality.
  • Strong knowledge of design principles, human-computer interaction, and user experience best practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills, with the ability to lead and contribute effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Quick learner with a demonstrated ability to master new and complex product areas.
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools like Figma.
  • Experience in conducting user research and usability testing to inform design decisions.
  • A strong passion for tackling complex challenges and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with human-in-the-loop tools.
  • Demonstrated success in improving organizational efficiency through human-centered design.
  • Experience designing tools for developers, including AI/ML tools.

The salary range for this position is $126,000 - $185,300, with compensation varying based on location, skills, and experience. Additional benefits, bonuses, and long-term incentives may also be offered. Salary ranges are subject to change.
